Yes. All subjects are taught at university level
by the University of Canberra
, a major Australian university. The degree for successful students
is awarded by the University of Canberra. However, because of the subject
content and the way it is taught, the degree is more immediately commercially
relevant than most IT degrees.
- The GOL Service
GOL uses the Information to generate reports to prospective
employers on the suitability of the candidate as a trainee. GOL also
uses some of the Information to generate a report on the candidate
for the University of Canberra to determine whether the candidate can be
granted advanced standing. GOL also uses some of the Information to
provide the successful candidate with accommodation for the Summer
School.
- Ownership
GOL is the sole owner of all Information gathered on
the GOL site.
- Use of Information
By registering their Information on the site, candidates
consent to the use of the Information by GOL for the purposes of providing
the Service. GOL will not use the Information for any purpose other
than to provide the Service. Any use of the Information in the form
of reports by third parties including employers and the University of
Canberra
is limited by copyright provisions and no further distribution of
the Information is permitted.
- Web Access Log
Information is automatically logged on our server in
a "Web Log" file. This is a standard server function and
most standard web sites utilize log files. Our web site collects data
about internet protocol address, internet service provider, platform
type, date/time stamp, operating system, last URL requested and browser
type the GOL site and product offerings and maintain and to secure
the site. GOL retains this information for an indeterminate period
of time.
- Cookies
A cookie is a piece of data stored on the candidate's
computer tied to information about the candidate. For the session
ID cookie, once candidates close the browser, the cookie simply terminates.
A persistent cookie is a small text file stored on the candidate's
hard drive for an extended period of time. Persistent cookies can
be removed by following Internet browser help file directions. You
can set your browser to notify you to either accept or deny the cookie
according to the following information.

The GOL website uses session cookies to allow you to login to the
site and automatically maintain your logged in status while using
the site. When you logout, the logout page gives you the option of
removing our cookies from your machine.
- Communications from the Site
When a candidate provides GOL with Information, GOL
will use the Information to contact them, as appropriate, to deliver
the Service.
- Legal Obligation?
Though GOL makes every effort to preserve privacy,
GOL may need to disclose Information when required by law wherein
GOL has a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply
with a current judicial proceeding, a court order or legal process
served on the GOL Web site.
- Aggregate Information
Market analysis based on data collected on the GOL
site may be shared with employers or other organisations. Where this
occurs, it is done in a way that contains no reference to individual
data or individual identities.
- Choice/Opt-out
To deliver the Service, GOL must have all of the Information
requested. Up to the point where Candidates provides all of the Information
requested, they can decide to opt out of providing further information
by advising GOL that the Service is no longer required by emailing
to webmaster@go2gol.com.
Candidates who provide all of the Information required can also opt
out by following the same procedure.
- Data Security
GOL has physical security in our facilities to protect
against the loss, misuse, or alteration of information.
- Visitors Under 13 Years of Age
GOL does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information online from a child under 13 since the site is not directed at children.
- Correcting/Updating/Deleting/Deactivating Information
Candidates are able to change their Information through the site. If a candidate decides to opt out, the Information is depersonalised.
- Links to Other Sites
GOL does not partner with or have special relationships with any ad server companies. The GOL website contains links to other sites. GOL is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of any other web sites. GOL encourages candidates to be aware when they leave the GOL site and to read the privacy statements of each and every Web site that collects personally identifiable information. This privacy statement applies solely to information collected by the GOL site.
- Changes to the Privacy Policy
Candidates submit the Information to GOL under the provisions of the Privacy Policy as stated at the time of submission. If GOL significantly changes the policy, GOL will post a notice in a conspicuous place on the GOL website notifying visitors of policy changes.
- Resolving Privacy Policy Issues
If you have completed a number of subjects and leave the traineeship
program, those subjects are treated like any other university subjects.
If you decide that you wish to transfer to another degree, at the University of Canberra
or any other university, the subjects you have done will be considered
in the same way as any other university subjects. The university involved
will decide whether to allow some or all of your subjects based on the
particular requirements of the degree to which you wish to transfer.
